There have been many famous black flags throughout history. Some black flags have represented pirates, religion, revolting farmers and anarchy. Hobo Outdoor Co. tidbit: Jean Laffite, the famous pirate of Galveston actually helped the US by fighting against the British fleet in the War of 1812. Of course, after the War of 1812 he was back to pirating.
